June 25, 2024: New Law Enforcement Pathway

We are creating a new Alberta Advantage Immigration Program pathway for law enforcement to help Alberta’s police services address crime and meet their recruitment objectives for public protection.Eligible employers for law enforcement nominations must be members of the Alberta Association of Chiefs of Police.Law enforcement occupations that are eligible for nominations include:commissioned and non-commissioned police officers and related occupations in public protection servicespolice investigators and other investigative occupationsother specialized law enforcement occupationsInvited applicants must have a job offer from an Alberta Association of Chiefs of Police member and meet all other Express Entry criteria.Keeping Albertans safe is a top priority of this government, and we are committed to protecting the safety and security of Albertans by supporting Alberta police services’ international police officer recruitment.More details will be available soon.

Changes to the education requirement for nurses applying to the Express Entry Human Capital Priorities and French-Speaking Skilled Worker streams

The Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) has made changes to the educational requirements for nurses applying to the Human Capital Priorities (HCP) and the French-Speaking Skilled Worker (FSSW) streams that will make it easier for nurses to qualify for the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP).

Increased minimum penalty for contraventions under the Ontario Immigration Act or its regulations

The Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) has changed the formula used to calculate administrative monetary penalties (AMPs) for employers, representatives, and recruiters, as well as those who acquire a financial benefit for contraventions under the Ontario Immigration Act, 2015 (OIA) or its regulations. The change increases the minimum AMP amount from $2,000 to $10,000 for employers, recruiters and people or bodies that acquired a financial benefit from the offense.

Employer Job Offer In-Demand Skills stream: general occupations invited

On July 16, 2024, we issued invitations to apply to potential candidates in the Expression of Interest system pool who may qualify for the Employer Job Offer: In Demand Skills stream. Candidates only received an invitation if they had a score of 35 and above.
